In The City Music Festival

We recently attended the popular 2019 edition of ‘In The City’ music festival which took place on the 6th of October in Johannesburg to see what sneakers turned up. The festival saw international superstars: The 1975, Russ, Earthgang, Smino, Tash Sultana, James Vickery, and Austin Millz all grace the South African stage. The festival brought out an extremely diverse crowd that all came prepared to get their kicks dirty.

Over the years it has been fascinating to watch how street culture has influenced festival-goers with sneakers becoming a large focus.

We teamed up with content creator Jay Carson, founder of Township Rockstar – a Social Cultural Research Project, to capture festival-goers' unique styles and find out their thoughts on street culture and sneakers and how prepared they are to get their kicks dirty. In recent times, sneakers are playing a larger role in the decision making of ones daily outfit as they now act as an extension of yourself. Every festival goer that Jay spoke to emphasized that they choose their sneakers based on comfort, aesthetics, and expression.

Our convenient and on-the-go Sneaker Wipes kept festival-goers’ sneakers in check!
