Sneaker LAB's Top Water Saving Tips

We are celebrating World Water Week here at The LAB.
Our headquarters are in Cape Town - one of the world's top water saving cities! We have decided to share some of our learnings with the rest of the world for the occasion. Check out some easy tips to save water daily:
1. Shower for 3 minutes or less
This uses a third of the amount of water used in the average shower.
2. Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth
Rather fill a cup with water to wash and rinse.
3. Only run the washing machine when full
Washing machines use an average of 150 litres per cycle.
4. Choose a shower instead of a bath
A full bath uses the same amount as roughly 20 showers.
5. Collect your shower water and dish water in a bucket
This water can then be used to flush the toilet or water the garden.
6. Refrain from watering your garden too often
If watering the garden, do it during the coolest time of the day.
7. Put a cover on your pool to stop evaporation
Pool covers prevent up to 98% of evaporation.
8. Buy water-wise plants that need little or no water
Plants that are indigenous to your area use less water than exotic plants.
9. Fix leaks as soon as they are discovered
Dripping taps can waste up to 5 litres of drinking water per day.
It is important to take all these steps to help reduce our water usage, as this is our most important resource on the planet. Share your tips in the comments section below.
